I’m beginning a new painting. Luc Tuymans has long served as an inspiration for me in how to construct the human figure, and I found myself revisiting his work in preparation for this new project. During my internet explorations I found this image, a painting by artist Erin Fitzpatrick. Her application of paint gives that great geometric shape that I find in Tuymans’ works, but the significantly saturated color pallet gives life to her paintings in ways I feel Tuymans’ lacks.
I am at the point of ascribing colors to my pallet. Working with oil paints and maintaining a toxic-free work space seems almost impossible, but it is a mission that I intend to see through. I’d love to hear some feedback from any artists out there working in a “green” studio.
