Lucian Freud, Man’s Head, Self-Portrait III, 1963
oil on canvas
National Portrait Gallery, London
Lucian Freud’s paintings have always served as an inspirational display of the human form for me. In reading through the various retrospectives on his personal life I am frustratingly reminded of his role as a reckless misogynist. A bit of a monster, but with the ability to captivate many - myself included.
