Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet with the folks over at Children’s After School Arts (CASA). Their goal is to provide a safe and enriching space for children to grow, explore, create and discover. Located at the Rooftop Alternative School in Twin Peaks, the grounds are surrounded with buildings decorated in murals depicting works from artists like Frida Kahlo and Vincent Van Gogh. Their program focuses on many aspects of visual, performing, and theater arts to help children build self-esteem, learn to work with groups and individual self-expression. It’s great to hear what this program has been able to bring to their community. CASA is an independent nonprofit which draws most of it’s support from the participating families, just another reminder that individual donors are so important in supporting the arts.
